Our Story

Marphona began in 1983, as the dream of founder Bruce Pulman.

Where once sat an idle block of rural land, Bruce imagined something more; an organic dairy farm that put the planet first, respecting the land, animals and people that made it’s produce possible.

With this dream in their pockets, The Pulman family and their supporters set to work, converting this unproductive piece of Managatawhiri land into one of New Zealand’s leading organic farms.

A Labour of Love

When The Pulman family arrived in Auckland’s Mangatawhiri, the land they’d purchased was unworkable, covered in old tree-stumps, logs, sticks and little else.

But where others saw wasteland, the Pulman’s saw endless potential. Space for a flourishing dairy farm, with lush paddocks, cared for animals and the ability to produce truly nourishing nutrition.

After 40 years of collective hard work, Marphona has grown into the farm it is today.

Marphona is proudly organic; a holistic farming system that strives for sustainability first, prioritising the health of the soil and waterways, surrounding flora and fauna, animals and our diverse community.

Certified by IFOAM, we’ve worked hard to meet their specifications as a farm that relies on ecological processes, biodiversity and adapts to local conditions rather than inputs that have adverse effects. An IFOAM-certified farm combines tradition, innovation and science to benefit the shared environment, promoting fair relationships and good quality of life for all involved.

The Freshest Produce

With a processing plant on-site, we’re able to ensure our organic produce goes straight from the farm to your plate. This means our dairy is extra fresh, tasty and full of goodness, easily traced back to us at Marphona.

Bottling at source has other benefits too and many baristas insist on Marphona milk for their flat whites and lattes as they swear no milk makes a better foam.
